Bin Stickers and Posters

The 20mph areas in Euxton's residential streets have begun to appear - so if you want to help support and promote your 20mph street with bin stickers or a window poster - let us know.

The Healthy Streets Group has supported the printing of these stickers and posters which say "20 is Plenty in Euxton" for residents to raise awareness of their streets' new speed limit.

Make Contact with the Parish Council - let us know what you want and where to deliver to.

If you want to know if your street is included in one of the schemes, please see the schemes at the bottom of this page.

Healthy Streets Initiative

In each district of Lancashire one area has been chosen to run a Healthy Streets initiative alongside the introduction of 20mph areas in residential areas. From the whole of the Chorley area, Euxton has been chosen to run this initiative, so this is a great opportunity for us as a village (on the right is more information on the Scheme).

The Healthy Streets Group has met and discussed ideas for using the Government funding, which comes with the scheme, to encourage residents to get out of their cars and use other means of transport such as walking, cycling and public transport.

Members of the Healthy Streets Group:

Joanne Hudson, Environment and Community projects Team LCC

Elizabeth Darnell, Balshaw Lane Primary School

Debra Platt, Clerk to Euxton Parish Council and Euxton North Borough Councillor

As informed in our September's WEB, the 20mph speed
limit scheme is being introduced to residential areas as a response to road safety concerns.

The Euxton Central area was consulted on first, closely followed by two areas in Euxton North and one in Euxton South.

Healthy Streets Action Plan

Linked with the first stage areas is a government incentive called 'Healthy Streets'. Full details of this scheme can be seen on Euxton's website but it basically:
"Encourages communities to consider where they live and work, and pursue prospects that will improve their local environment and lead to more people making the most of their outdoor space. Whole communities will include residents, organisations, businesses and schools; the young and old".

There was an initial meeting in November to get the Healthy Street scheme up and running but now it needs public input - from you.

If you have any concerns about where you live in regards to improving or making our street safer, or cutting down on journeys or, if you want to volunteer as a community representative to take the scheme forward - let the Parish Council know.

Some ideas of the scheme it wants to encourage solutions for are, how to make short, local journeys by sustainable modes, including walking and cycling and enabling them to access and use public transport for longer journeys.

There is a budget attached to this project to carry out improvements to areas - steered by the Action Plan drawn up by the community's input.

Following our article in the September newsletter explaining the 20 mph areas (Click page below to enlarge) Lancashire County Council (LCC) has begun to consult on some of the 20mph areas to come.

Consultations on areas are below:

There is one more area to be consulted which is entitled Euxton Central West which it is assumed to cover areas such as Greenside, St Mary's Gate etc as they were not included in any of the consultation areas below. This does not have a date for consultation yet - but when it does this page will be updated.
