Residents calling a meeting
This page last updated 04-Nov-2010

Recently a number of residents tried to call a Parish Meeting for Euxton. This was not done in accordance with guidelines governing Parish Meetings and the residents were informed it had not been called lawfully. The residents were offered assistance by the Clerk to the Council if they were to ever call a Parish Meeting but this offer was not taken up. This is the letter sent to the six residents calling the meeting HERE

Euxton Greenbelt Residents group leafleted the village to attend their meeting and the Parish Meeting following, with a number of messages on that leaflet which included a number of statements which were untrue including "every household in Euxton will have to pay up to £100 every year in Parish Council Tax" and saying "you may not even be able to use it" referring to the Pear Tree Greens recreation space, if it were created by the Parish Council. This leaflet obviously attracted a number of curious residents. The meeting was followed by the meeting which was described as an "Euxton Parish Meeting" but, as reiterated in a following letter to the six residents, was not a legally called meeting. HERE
