The consulation drop-in event went really well with well over 50 interested residents popping in to help. We got together 5 keen residents, who along with some Parish Councillors can now become a working group to progress this project.
Also attending the event were representatives from the Lancashire Crown Green Bowling Association and two members of the Croston and Mawdesley Boules League who all gave very useful advice on placement considerations for the green and boules area.
One of the next stages is to search out some available grants, now many of the Lottery funds have closed because of the drain on funding because of the forthcoming Olympics.

The next stage of the Euxton Parish Council project to create a Bowling Green and Boules area for Euxton has been arranged.
There will be a consultation meeting/drop-in taking place at Euxton Cricket Club pavilion, Balshaw Park, off Southport Road Euxton on Thursday, 2 July 2009 at 7.00 pm.
Everyone who registered their interest in Bowling and Boules will be invited to the meeting, along with neighbours but it is open to all.
At the meeting an 'artists impression' of the bowling green will be on display on which opinions will be sought.
Also it is the hope that a core group of people will volunteer to form a Bowling/Boules working party to assist the Parish Council in seeking grant funding and ultimately become a Bowling Club for the Green.

Bowling update...
At its January precept meeting Euxton Parish Council set aside a start-up budget for a bowling green project of £20,000.
This committment from the Council is a much needed boost to start the project off.
Costings have now been sought and soon a meeting with the Cricket Club to finalise details will be arranged.
Following this a consultation will be arranged with the residents who registered their interest for bowling in Euxton. If you didn't register before, call us now so you too can be included.

Thank you to everyone who responded to an article in the last newsletter which appealed to Bowlers.
There appears to be many people in Euxton who do, did, or would like to have a bowling facility in the village.
The Council will now progress this project together with Euxton Cricket Club.
Bowling Crown or Flat?
We are appealing to everyone in the village who likes Bowling, wants to bowl, or used to bowl and would like to again, locally.
There is a piece of land available for two bowling greens to be created if there is a need for them in the village. We would like you to contact the Council to tell us you want and would use Greens in Euxton - so we know there is a need.
We also need a few people interested enough to form a group to help advise and guide us whilst we apply for grants to raise the funds for the building of two Bowling Greens.
