Elizabeth was co-opted on to the Council in May 2010 . Councillor Profile, will appear in the Euxton WEB, December 2010 I'm 22 and am (as far as I know!) the youngest councillor in the Parish at the moment. I work as an Assistant Manager in SPAR and have done since 2008. In my 'spare' time I am a traditional Lancashire clog and morris dancer, an Assistant Guider at 2nd Euxton Brownies and also co-present a radio show on Chorley FM! Somewhere amongst all this chaos I also own a horse stabled up Washington Lane. I'm fairly easy going though occasionally my redhead temper lets itself be known!! I wanted to join the council to get involved and find out what it takes to keep a village 'in check' (ALOT as I'm finding out!). I'm really looking forward to learning more and more about my position in the village and getting involved in all work thrown my way!!

Tony was first co-opted on to the Council in August 2007. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, June 2007 My name is Anthony Dilworth, but known as Tony. I was born in Euxton in 1938. I am married to Doreen whom I met at a dance hall in Chorley in 1959 and we have three children and five grandchildren. I attended St Mary's School in Euxton until leaving at the age of 15 and my first employment was in a cotton mill before moving on to the construction industry. Like most people of my age, I was drafted into Her Majesty's Forces. Spending time in the Army, first as an infantry man in the Border regiment then transferring to the police. After demob, I did various jobs in building and construction then finally worked for Baxi heating at Chorley, then Bamber Bridge. I worked at Baxi for approximately 30 years, first in building maintenance then as an assembly worker where I became a shop steward. While still at Baxi I was elected by the shop stewards committee to be a works convenor and furthered my union work by being elected to National Committee as a representative for Lancashire and West Yorkshire in the foundry workers union. Twenty years ago I set up a neighbourhood watch in the area I live and am a founder member of Chorley District Neighbourhood Watch Committee, where I was elected the first Vice Chairman. I have once, in the past, represented Chorley on the National Neighbourhood Watch in London. I have also attended meetings at Police headquarters in Hutton. I regularly attend the PACT meetings in Euxton and in 2006 I was elected to serve on the St Mary's Euxton Church Committee representing the building and cemetery. For the past ten years I have been groundsman looking after the cemetery, cutting the grass and re-turfing when necessary. In August 2005 I became a member of Euxton Parish Council. I have seen a lot of changes in Euxton, living here most of my life. Since the beginning of the 1960s when the building industry took off in a big way and developers saw Euxton as a prime location, housing estates have grown and grown taking farm land and lots of fields, woodlands have disappeared along with some wild life. The M6 is a prime example of woodland being destroyed - there used to be a wooded area stretching from Runshaw Lane almost to Dawbers Lane. Now we are under threat by another developer who wants to quarry Euxton. If this happens Euxton will no longer be the pleasant clean place to live and bring up children. As a resident, and a Parish Councillor, I am totally against this proposal for a quarry and any other development on Greenfield land in Euxton. As a Councillor, I pledge to do my best to serve the people of Euxton to the best of my ability.

Mark was co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in May 2010. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, September 2010 I have lived in the Chorley area much of my life, in June 2009 I moved to Buckshaw Village with my partner. I am employed as a member of the coaching team, for the UK's brightest phone and broadband company, based in Preston. Within Buckshaw Village, I am proud to be an Executive Committee Member of the Buckshaw Village Community Association (BVCA). Where as a committee we look to represent all residents living within the associations' geographical boundaries, to promote equal choice and opportunities which will encourage good neighbourliness and community spirit. As a BVCA committee member I regularly attend the Buckshaw Village PACT meetings. I am a founder member and Chair of the Buckshaw Fairtrade Association, who look to promote the use of Fairtrade products and ethical trading. With the support of local residents and businesses, so that in the future Buckshaw Village may be awarded Fairtrade Village status. I feel very strongly that as a Parish Council, we must do all we can to maintain the quality of life for all residents in the Parish of Euxton. I look forward to actively working as a Parish Councillor to ensure the character, charm and green open spaces, that first attracted me to live in the area, are presevered for future generations. I pledge to do my best to serve you the people of Euxton to the best of my ability. |

Eric was originally co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in November 2002 and was successful at the May 2006 election. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, June 2004 I was born in Preston and have lived in Euxton for 46 years. After leaving school I started work as an Apprentice Electrician at the then Royal Ordnance Factory on Euxton Lane, and, I am still there today (yes it is still open and will be for a few years to come). Having had a varied career which included management experience in the Maintenance Department and later as a Production Manager I recently took on the post of Security Manager for the facility and have responsibilities for Safe Systems of Work. I was keen to be a Parish Councillor as I was concerned that Euxton was losing its character and tradition, being swallowed up by the ever-increasing need for houses. I would like to see Euxton stay as a village where families can feel safe and enjoy life. I have a particular interest in the youth of the village, and it is here that I would like to improve the facilities that are provided for recreational use, and would value any idea's you may have that could help along the way to achieving this. In 2006/7 Eric served as the Vice Chairman for the Council. In May 2007 Eric was elected to be Chairman for 2007/2008.

Brian was co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in September 2007. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, March 2010 I was born in Prestwich, Greater Manchester and have spent the whole of my life living to the north of Manchester. I married my wife, Joan, in 1962 and since then we have moved house no less than 10 times finally moving to Euxton in July 2001, the best move of our lives ! My youngest of 2 daughters, her husband and our grand daughter also live in Euxton. My eldest daughter and grand son live in Bolton. My main interests are family, sports, travel and socialising. I have been a season ticket holder at Bolton Wanderers for the last 25 years and still have not seen sense. I feel very strongly that we must do all we can to maintain the quality of life we have here in Euxton and became a member of the Parish Council, in September 2007, so I can do my bit to help. I regularly attend the PACT meetings at both Euxton and Buckshaw Village, also the meetings of Buckshaw Village Residents Association (as parts are in my ward). I am excited about the number of projects currently being promoted by the Parish Council all of which will help towards keeping life in Euxton so special. |

John joined the Council in 1993. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, June 2001 John joined the Parish Council in 1993. He and his wife Diane moved to Euxton over 15 years ago to raise their two sons Anthony and Robert. In addition to John's many interests, gardening, fishing, stamp collecting and painting in water colour, all of which he would like to spend more time doing, he works very hard for the Parish Council. John says about the Council, "All the Councillors are volunteers and put in alot of time and effort and do a good job putting the wishes of the residents of Euxton first. There have been some exciting projects undertaken recently such as the transformation of land to provide Euxton with a Millennium Green and restoring the Stocks but the coming year alos brings new projects such as a pavement sweeper and pilot schems to improve the look of the village such as the raised garden beds. I am proud to be on the Council, it gives me a great sense of satisfaction and enjoyment to give something back to the village".

Alan was co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in June 2006. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, June 2010 I lived in the High Peak, Derbyshire until 1994, when I moved to Euxton with Debra, my wife. We have a daughter, Katie, who is just 6 and attends Balshaw Lane School and I have a son, James who is 28 and lives near Manchester. I started work at NatWest, in 1972, and have since worked for several asset finance companies and a telecommunications supply company. I am currently Clerk to 3 other parish councils in the Chorley area, and was fortunate enough to be elected Borough Councillor for the Astley and Buckshaw Ward at the recent elections. I am a lifelong Man City fan (yes, one of those who can remember winning a trophy) so I am equipped with a very thick skin and used to disappointment and adversity - and I now relish the thought of the only team to come from Manchester achieving total domination!!! As a Parish Council, I believe we need to do all we can for the village and its residents. I have been involved in the Euxton in Bloom Group, the Skatepark Committee and the Pear Tree Greens Committee, where we are hoping to provide much needed additional sports facilities for the village. I am also very proud of what this Council has achieved to date and am pleased to be associated with, what I believe to be, generally, the cleanest village in Chorley. |

Barrie was co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in March 2008. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, September 2009 I was born in Edgware in North London and in 1961 moved to Cheshire and made a further move to Astley Village in 1983. I have worked in the construction industry since leaving school and from 1999 onwards for a Ceramics Company in Euxton as a Technical Design Engineer. It is now 3 years since my wife and myself became residents of Euxton. I am a member of a few wildlife organisations and enjoy pets, currently having not only a dog but also a cat and a few chickens. I have a few hobbies mostly related to woodworking. I do woodcarving, walking stick making and woodturning and occasionally give demonstrations of the craft of Pole Lathe Turning, which to those who don't know is an ancient method of wood turning using natural means (without electrical motors). My wife and I are both members of Euxton Parish Church and support their organisations, I am also a keen Bowler and look forward to the project to create a Bowling Club for Euxton. |

Eveline was co-pted to the Council in January 1994. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, September 2001 Eveline joined the Parish Council on 20 January 1994 and was Chairman in 2002/3. She has always been involved with local life since moving to Euxton from Liverpool, due to her husbands work, some 30 years ago. When her three sons were younger Eveline was involved with the PTFA and helping at Balshaw Lane school from trips to assisting in school. As the boys got older she became a trustee of the Youth Club through the Parish Council. She also finds time to be a governor of St Mary's Catholic Primary School. All this whilst looking after her family and working full time at the family business in Preston with her husband. Eveline says about the council, "the mix of people on the parish council with different backgrounds, ages, experiences bring new ideas, views and solutions to old problems - but all are in the best interest of the village and that is main reason why I find enjoyment and satisfaction from being a councillor".

Paul was co-opted to the Parish Council at the Council meeting in January 2010. I have three children, Jessica, Helen and Matthew. When I left school I worked for Asda for a couple of years then took a TOPS course in computer programming. I have been employed in IT since, working for Local Government, British Gas, the Department for Work and Pensions, Ministry of Defence, ING, Royal Bank of Scotland and HM Revenue & Customs. During my spare time I like working with young people, walking my dog Rex and visiting the mid Wales coast. For the Parish Council, I am a supporter of the Skatepark and Pear Tree Green Projects which can hopefully provide much needed recreational facilities for Euxton and Chorley.

Diane was originally co-opted to the Parish Council in September 1998. Cllr Diane Wallbank re-joined the Parish Council in March 2009 following a short break, previously she had served on the Council from September 1998 to January 2008. Councillor Profile from the Euxton WEB, September 2002 I was born and raised in Chorley and moved to the village of Euxton twenty five years ago. My husband and I have two children who both attend the local schools and I was a member of the PTFA of their primary school for eight years. Being a 'local' means that I have seen and experienced first hand many of the changes and developments to the area and am pleased therefore to put this knowledge to use as a member of the Parish Council. I was a founder member of ERASE (Euxton Residents Against Sand Extraction) and realised then the strength and community spirit of the people of Euxton when we were faced with the threat of such a huge development. It was whilst I was a member of ERASE that I first became involved with the Parish council and have now served on Euxton Parish Council for four years. There is no doubt that Euxton has grown considerably over the years and it is therefore the aim of all the Parish Councillors together with your help to try and make our village a safe and better place for us all to live.
