'Gabion' appeared on a planning application recently - what is this?

A Gabion is a mesh basket of stones and rocks which are stacked in a row to create a retaining wall. Eventually the baskets of stones naturalise and grow grass through.

Why are members of the Irish Republic allowed to become Parish Councillors?

Answer: The Local Government Act 1972 specifies that British or Republic or Ireland subjects are eligible.

More recently it has updated and reads, eligibility includes: Commonwealth citizen and Euro National.
