Fight to prevent the Euxton Sand Quarry

All the people of Euxton and its surrounding villages are being urged to step up their campaigning to prevent the proposed sand quarry ever being built.

The planning application by the developers, Tarmac, was turned down and as such the quarry cannot go ahead. However they have decided to appeal against this decision. If they win this appeal, which will take the form of a public Inquiry, then the quarry will go ahead.

“Euxton Parish Council and ERASE who are leading the campaign to prevent this unwanted development are doing a magnificent job” states Euxton South Ward Councillor Peter Goldsworthy, “but we need your help”.

“Clearly Tarmac will use its huge resources to argue its case at the public inquiry which is likely to be held in the not to distant future. Whilst we, the people of Euxton, will have to rely upon ourselves. So what we need is a little more help from everyone”.

Villagers will have noted that a private traffic survey has recently been undertaken in Euxton. “We do not know who commissioned this private piece of work but it’s not the County or the Borough Councils. Traffic congestion is one of our main concerns and one is free to speculate that evidence is being collected to attempt to defeat our argument. This is just one example of why we need your help and backing to give us a chance to present our case professionally”.

“We can all help” urges Debra Platt, Clerk to Euxton Parish Council.

“By simply placing a Fight the Quarry notice in your window or giving a cash donation to the fund you are showing your determination to fight on. So no matter how small a contribution you can make, please send your money to Euxton Parish Council”.

“With your help we can win” say both Debra and Peter “so please do your best to support this campaign”.
