History

The Community Centre, over the past few years, has developed its facilities to become a modern, central focal point for the village, offering facilities which are well used by all sorts of groups.

Facilities

General information:

Over the past few years the Community Centre has developed to become a modern, central focal point for the village, offering a range of facilities which are well used by a range of groups.

The Community Centre is licenced to permit the playing of live and recorded music, screening of DVDs and is open until 11pm midweek and 12midnight at weekend. There is car park available off School Lane, disabled parking (at the front of the building and accessed via Wigan Road). The Centre has full disabled access facilities, kitchen area, staging, folding tables and chairs, sound system, media projectors and wi-fi.

Main Hall:

Ideal for parties, fitness groups, dancing classes and large meetings. The 65 x 25 ft hall is equipped with a sound system which can be used at no extra cost. There is a large fully equipped kitchen with microwave, toaster, oven, water boiler, cutlery, crockery, etc, which again, is all included in the room hire. Other items which can be made available by prior arrangement include staging, media projector, as well as the folding table and chairs. The large hall can hold up to 120 people comfortably standing or dancing. Alternatively the room can hold around 80 people if sat around tables for a formal or luncheon type meeting.

The main hall has a concertina partition screen which allows the space to be divided into two smaller areas if required (and by prior arrangement). With regards to child parties, the hall can accommodate bouncy castles up to a maximum height of 10ft. However, those with solid or covered canopies cannot be accommodated.

Classroom:

This room is used primarily as an educational room, ideal for staff training or courses. It has internet access, media projector, printers and water dispenser to refill drinks containers.

Meeting Room:

Ideal for committee / business meetings of up to 18 people. Fully equipped with media projector and tea making facilities.

Medium Hall:

This room is used as a pre-school nursery during term time and has child toilets and a secure play area. The room can hold around 30 people. Use of this room would require notice well in advance of the required date and may be subject to approval by the Euxton Community Centre Committee.

Annexe:

This is a self contained building to the rear of the main building. It can hold around 40 people or about 24 sat round tables. It is ideal for small social groups, small informal parties, fitness or meditation groups or educational courses. The room has tea making facilities, media projector and its own toilets.

Notice:

  • The Community Centre is a non-smoking premises
  • The use of smoke machines is not permitted as they would activate the fire alarm system
  • The entire site is covered by a CCTV system

The Parish Centre is available for wider community usage and a number of community groups do take advantage of the facilities. It is suitable for regular meetings / events, local groups or for individual bookings, in both daytime or evenings.

History

The Parish Centre has undergone considerable refurbishment in recent times - thanks to the efforts of a small group of dedicated volunteers. The former bar/snooker room area has been completely updated to produce a room that is bright and welcoming for a wide range of uses. Daily Mass (weekdays) is now celebrated in the Parish Centre and a variety of Parish Groups utilise the upgraded facilities.

It should be noted that the Parish Centre has no drinks licence, although "own-supplied" alcoholic drinks may be consumed at events provided that agreement is obtained in advance - the sale of alcoholic drinks in the Parish Centre is not permitted under any circumstances.
