Star Man of Euxton24th of August, 2020
Michael Thompson was nominated for an Euxton Star Award by Cllr Tony Reed after getting to know Michael through volunteering as a Careline driver.
Michael came to Euxton 1976 and joined St Mary’s congregation, in 1994 he became a Committee member Churches Together, he is now the Treasurer
Through Churches Together, Careline was formed in 1996 to give a door to door service for needy residents, supplied by Euxton residents, Michael is Treasurer. From 2010 he became sole co-ordinator arranged by phone on a Friday the necessary rides that the 17 volunteers provide to 30 Euxton residents in need, for appointments such as hospital, doctor, day care, shopping, bingo, community centres etc.
All this and a full time job at the Mobility Centre in Chorley.
Michael's contribution to Euxton and its elderly and infirm residents truly make him out for a role as one of our ‘Star Men’
