Euxton Lane works

The Network Rail works which have necessitated the closure of Euxton Lane and subsequent traffic problems on School Lane are set to end later today (Wednesday 25th January). The works carried out were to restore rain water drainage pipes, due to historic blocking and collapse, to increase the capacity for water draining away in the future. This is to prevent severe events such as the flooding of the Bay Horse rail bridge around Christmas 2015, in the future. Residents have been very patient with the closures and disruptions this has caused, also in light of the extentions to the time Euxton Lane has been closed. The Parish Council is following up with reports to have roads and pavements swept, potholes filled and verges levelled, following the clearing off site of all the construction and HGVs of the works traffic. Please report to us any problems you see in the next few days, which have not been attended to.

Euxton Lane closure extended to complete

Euxton Lane improvement work update from NETWORK RAIL This week, we will be issuing an update to affected residents on the work. We are reaching the end of our important drainage improvement work that will help reduce flooding in this location. The work has proven challenging due to several difficult blockages and the number of bends along the 670m sections of the two drainage pipes. I am pleased to report that all the obstructions have been unblocked from both drains. A replacement pipe has been carefully re-laid in the first pipe and the second pipe will be fixed this week. The benefit of this work will mean that the drainage capacity of the road will be doubled, meaning that the surface water will now be taken away by two pipes instead of one previously. Once this work is finished, we need to return the road back into use by tarmacing areas where digging has taken place. After careful consideration, we have taken the decision to extend the road closure on Euxton Lane and School Lane by two weeks until the 27th January. This is for contingency purposes only - in case there are any unforeseen difficulties. Please be assured that we are working hard to complete this complex work well ahead of this time and we will write to you again once the road is ready to be reopened. Lastly, Network Rail would like to thank Euxton residents for their continued patience and cooperation while we complete this work. Please do keep in touch if you have any further questions on this work programme.

Network Rail work on Euxton Lane

An update from Network Rail today (15/12/16) reads: "Today, we have started the installation of the first pipe. Once this is complete, we will install the second pipe, which is programmed to finish by the end of next week. As anticipated, the job is proving complex and challenging, and as a contingency, we have therefore applied to Lancashire County Council to extend the road closure until 13th January 2017. A letter will shortly be issued to local residents about this. However, we are working as fast we can and over the weekend to ensure that we can complete the project as quickly as possible. Network Rail remains committed to the completion of this vital project to reduce the risk of flooding from this road in the future."
